Loveland Ski Area --> Georgetown By Way of Running

I do it for the view, seriously! This run, although called the Slacker Half Marathon, isn't as easy as it may sound.  It is mostly flat with some downhill running, but there are definite inclines too!  The race starts at Loveland Ski Area, an altitude of 10,800 feet and ends at Georgtown, an altitude of 8,530 feet.  Thirteen.1 miles of the most beautiful scenery....and even though you are running along the highway in the last 3-4 miles, it's not a bad site to see!  Besides, at that point, you know you are almost done!

This year I did not hit my personal best, but I finished the race and was still walking so there's that. The air is thin but that isn't what gets me.  I feel better running in that altitude than I do here in Kansas.  Besides that, the temperature was in the upper 50's at the starting line, so it was perfect weather.  I started having trouble with my knee last year before running but decided to still go for it and last year I hit my PR and was extremely happy considering I was having some pain while running.  The doctor said I should probably have an MRI, a likely small tear that could easily be fixed, but I chose to put that off....

This year, at Mile 4, both knees were shooting pain up and down each leg.  I knew then it wasn't going to be my best race or time.  I stopped when I needed too, but kept going and crossed the finished line regardless.  At Mile 9, besides them handing out gummy bears which I savored as long as I could, I knew I had 4 miles to go but it was going to be tough. And at Mile 12, I really thought I was going to have to walk the rest of the way.  Lesson learned, guess who's getting her knee's checked out? This girl...otherwise I know my running career is over.  And I'm not done running so I guess I better make that appointment.

Anyway, did I mention I do it for the views? Besides, all of the food they hand out afterward. I also have a tradition to stop by the cutest little bakery, The Cake Bakery, to reload with some carbs and their refreshing Mountain-Berry lemonade. I always get a chocolate croissant, but this year, the blackberry scone was calling my name! It didn't last long!

We finished that day with a trip to Manitou, a quick game of horse racing where somehow I managed to place 1st...Horse #4, thanks for playing! I handed off my winning tickets as we left to head to the The Loop for their famous Margaritas.  It was a good day...other than at this point, I could barely walk!  Thank you to my Colorado Bestie and baby Cohen for driving me to and from the race and supporting me the whole way through!

11 Months to June 2018!! I think I better plan on making it 4 years and Running!

KC Skyline +The River Market + Running

When Steve Gibson asks you to be a part of a really cool running photo shoot..you say yes!  It was so awesome working with him in the River Market, doing one of the things I love to do, RUN!  And since I live in the River Market area, he suggested we shoot there.  Downtown Kansas City and the KC Streetcar featured in the photos were my favorite part about this shoot!  It took many times running back and forth to get the perfect shot, but I think he pulled it off!!...and I even got my workout in that day!  Besides that, the Kansas weather decided to misbehave that day, so I had to keep moving to stay warm!  This was a photo shoot very different than anything I have ever done, but I love working out and staying in shape, so I felt fortunate to be a part of it!
Here are just a few of the photos he captured.

Those views make me love Kansas City even more than I already do!

I Love Coaching!!!

Maybe you have heard of it...Beachbody!  First off, let me just say, it has changed my life!  I contemplated for 5 months about starting the 21 Day Fix...you may have seen may earlier blog posting with my results...but I did it, finally in December of 2014!  I loved it and within the 3rd week of doing MY challenge, I decided I wanted to help other people get in shape, become healthier, make a lifestyle change and have more energy!  I lost 4 pounds but for me and MOST importantly, I lost a total of 6 inches! Yes, Yes, Yes!!!

This has been the best decision I have ever made!  Let's face it, I LOVE helping people!  It is so rewarding to see people changing their bodies, becoming more healthy, and just seeing a smile on their face whether it's during the program or afterward! It makes me so HAPPY!! I want people to be confident in themselves and by helping them achieve this, my heart is fulfilled!!

The 21 Day Fix is ahhhh-mazing!  It's 21 Days of at-home workout's which mean no gym memberships, an easy meal plan, and a daily protein shake called Shakeology that provides the most awesome nutrients!!  Besides that, on average people lose 10-15 pounds in 21 days!!!

Shakeology is the shake you will drink daily and is a superfood protein that helps to give you energy, reduce cravings, and accelerate your fitness results! The chocolate is my absolute FAVORITE!! But, a close second is vanilla!!  And if you are a strawberry fan, there is that too!!!  Shakeo ROCKS!!

My Fixers are so AWESOME!! I love each and every one of them and if you are looking to make a change in your life, I am here to help you!!  Make 2015 YOUR YEAR!!

21 Day Fix

Maybe you have heard of it, the 21 Day Fix through Beachbody!!  I had been tempted to try it back in the summer, but decided to hold off! After all, I felt I was in pretty good shape.  I work out, run, eat mostly healthy and stay at a healthy weight.  But something just kept pushing me to try it, so I joined the greatest Coach, Ruth, and started my journey on December 1st!  The first week was tough, working out every single day, changing my eating habits and having to prep meals for the days I work was different.  But it got easier, and I started seeing a difference within the first week.  My body was becoming more tone, I felt more energy, and it felt good to get that daily 30 minute workout in! Here is where I started!

I definitely did not start this program to lose weight, I wanted to tone.  Obviously with the eating habits changed some and working out more, I was going to lose some weight, but after two weeks have only lost 4 pounds and I am OK with that!!  But like I said, this program for me was to tone, not necessarily to lose pounds.  Let me be clear, people do lose weight and if that's what you want to do, this program will work!  It's amazing!!

After week 1, I had lost 3 1/2 inches total!  The results were incredible and I was able to handle the working out and healthier eating!

What a change in only 1 week!!!

After week two, still seeing results! Down another 1 3/4 inches lost! A total of 5 1/4 inches lost in 2 weeks!  I am getting stronger and leaner!

So here is my last pic showing the start on Dec. 1st through 2 weeks of training!

I couldn't be more happier! I feel more energy and I have learned to eat differently!  Don't get me wrong, I still crave certain foods and in moderation I can have them! This isn't a DIET people, it's a lifestyle change to stay healthy and fit!

I will be joining soon as a Beachbody Coach and would love to help YOU attain your fitness goals!!  Happy Holidays Everyone!!
