Fashion for Spring!

Springtime is just around the corner...time to be thinking about transitioning from heavy winter coats and boots to light-weight jackets, perfect "holy" jeans, flats, booties, or my all time fav...converse! Pennsylvania's Punxsutawney Phil, the USA's most famous furry meteorologist, emerged from his burrow to proclaim to the crowd that he did not see his shadow. Hallelujah! I am so ready for springtime and my wardrobe is too!!

Here are few necessities that I think every gal or guy...depending on your style, should have!

1. Light-weight jacket - olive, olive, olive! Olive this jacket...it's so functional. Did you see what I did there? This jacket is going to be my favorite this season! I love the color, the style, the pockets and even though I am not normally a "hood" type of girl, it works here!  I found this steal on none other than Groopdealz, so it was a bargain, but it's still great quality! It looks super cute with jeans, flats, booties, or even converse.  I scored a bone-colored jacket at Gap a few weeks on the sale rack...perfect for Spring too!

2. Leopard Flats...enough said! These are by Calvin Klein and they are super comfy and can be worn with so many different outfits! Pair them with jeans and a casual shirt or even with a cute spring dress or skirt.  Don't get all matchy-matchy either...leopard, when worn at a minimum can be look cute with so many different patterns or bright solids.  Make them the statement piece of your wardrobe.

3. Jeans...we all want the perfect pair! And let me tell you, when I find them, they aren't let out of my site! A good pair of jeans can last years and I am that person that washes and dries them too...my friends think I am crazy! But I can easily have a pair of jeans for at least 5 years if not longer.  Don't be afraid to spend a little money on jeans either, I truly think with jeans, you get what you pay for!  Right now, skinnies are it for me! Look great with almost every shoe, are flattering, and the holier the better! Make sure and have a good light and dark pair. I love Hudson's, they are like butta! A few other fav's are Miss Me's, Paige, and True Religion...look on the sale racks for awesome deals too! I recently bought a pair of BKE's (I will be honest, I do not shop at the Buckle) but, after sporting them for the morning Fox 4 Spring Fashion's segment, they are great!

Hudson, True Religion, BKE

4. Booties, I am obsessed! Flat or with a small heal, everyone needs a couple of pairs...at least!

5. Converse...enough said.

Happy Spring Shopping!

Fox 4 Appearance with Jana Meister

When I had to opportunity to be on the Fox 4 Morning Show with Jana Meister for Spring Trends recently, I took it!  She is awesome to work with and plus I knew I would get to wear some fabulous clothes!  And, hair and makeup...sign me up!  We arrived early one morning about 7:30 to get started. We were taken to the infamous "green room", and yes they do exist. I was familiar with this room from my previous appearance wearing Nani Nalu Swimwear.  Fox 4 is just like what you would picture...busy, busy, busy...people everywhere getting ready for segments all throughout the day.  We were scheduled in the 9 o'clock hour so that gave us plenty of time to get primped.

My outfit was perfection...dark ripped skinny jeans, pointy flats, a soft shear cream-colored blouse, an amazing navy blue bomber jacket and a cute Guess handbag.  The outfit was from The Buckle, and although I never shop there for some reason, it was spot on. I actually went and ordered the jeans as soon as I left the show.  Hey, when a girl finds a pair of jeans that fit perfect, she buys them! This outfit is great for transitioning into the Springtime when you still need a light-weight jacket for those chilly mornings.

I love working with Jana!  And another great surprise is that Dani Jo and Roxana, who I had the pleasure of meeting on my birthday at the Glam Gals KC event, was there to make us all beautiful. They are great to work with and even though I was super concerned about my "eyebrows", Dani Jo is a professional...why did I even question that?  My hair was fixed in a way I would never do, but it turned out super cute, Roxana did an awesome job.  They will definitely be my go-to girls if I ever need to look and feel glam!

Springtime Flowers!

I love to plant flowers in the springtime. Something about the bright colors all mixed together just put a smile on my face!  I am by no means a "professional" when it comes to planting, but I often do a random mix of different types of flowers because I like that look.  From hanging baskets to front porch pretties, here are some recent pots I planted.  I used flowers such as Techno Heat Violets, Cherry Red Superbells, Tricolor Perilla for height in my larger planters, Sun Patients in Salmon and Pink Flash, Orange Tuberous Begonia's, and Surfinia Wild Plum.  I really just stroll the nursery and pick out the colors I love and styles that I think will look good together!  It's all up to you how to arrange the flowers. I just lay them all out and see what looks good and go from there!!  I use a good potting soil mix that I usually buy from the nursery and make sure to water them regularly! Potted plants can dry out quickly so make sure they don't get thirsty and they will stay vibrant all summer long!
