West On I-70 to that Colorado Stateline 🌲

It was Wednesday morning, I barely slept the night before, and was up early to hit the road to the Rockies.  I-70 Westbound for 8 hours; two stops to refuel on Starbucks and when I rolled over the state-line, I made the obligatory stop for a photo at the infamous "Welcome to Colorful Colorado" sign.  I don't care how many times I have done this, I will always stop; it's just a beautiful site to see.

Day one was a pretty chill day. I made my way through Denver before rush hour, even though the traffic there is always stop and go, over to the quaint little town of Golden. My gal Leah lives there  so of course we had to meet up for a quick bite and cocktails to catch up. I can't believe it's been a year since we last hung out!

We spent a few hours chatting before I was headed South to the Springs. It was my first time in Golden and I wish I would have had more time there.  This is seriously one of the cutest mountain towns. The views are great and it definitely has the small town feel.  I popped in and out of the local shops that line the main street.  One word; picturesque.

About an hour and a half later, I pulled into my home for the next 5 days.  Alec, who I like to call my Colorado Bestie, always has my room ready and I spend no time making myself at home.  When I arrived, I grabbed the baby and she handed me a White Russian and made me a grilled cheese.  And even though I haven't seen her since February, it felt like it was just yesterday.

I hit the sack early as tomorrow was a day I had been looking forward too. I was headed to do some adventuring on my own. A few planned and unplanned hours made the day quite eventful!  Keep an eye out for the next blog post about how my day started, ended, and what happened in between.

Next Up: Colorado

It's been a hot minute...but I have so many new and exciting adventures coming soon! In fact, I leave for Colorado in exactly 76 hours, not that I am counting :) Six days of exploring; both new and old places and I am taking on a few new endeavors while I am there.

First up; I will be taking over The Richest, a media and news page on Facebook....and get this....streaming a live video while sharing to over 2 million followers.  What???  I can't quite disclose the exact locale just yet, but stay tuned. I'll be posting where and when next week!  This will be my first "official" live takeover and although I am a bit nervous, I am looking forward to it!

Second, another takeover! This one will be on Instagram for one of my favorite pages, Wander Beyond Her.  This page is solely dedicated to all of us gals who get out there and explore the world!  I was super stoked with they asked me to take over for a day sharing my next adventure to Colorado! Again, I can't disclose the location just yet, but here's a hint...I am starting at the top and "running" my way down...a 2,500 foot elevation change, where there's a brewery with my name on it waiting for me at the end!

I will be posting a lot of new content soon so be sure to follow along as I make my way through what I believe is one of the most beautiful states in America.

See you in Colorado 🌲🌄

Backyard Trails and Waterfalls 🌲

Parkville Nature Sanctuary has been on  my to-do list for over a year now and we finally made our way there one Saturday morning to see what the trail had to offer.  It's only 10 miles from where I live and located basically in the middle of Parkville, Mo.  This wildlife sanctuary is 117 acres which includes 5 different trails that when combined make up about 3 miles of hiking. The Whitetail trail being the longest trail is 1.5 miles and has some great views; it connects with Old Kate trail which is almost a mile long.  On this trail you will find a Root Cellar, Springs, an Overlook, and of course the Waterfall.  Even though we hiked the trail before the "rainy" season, the Waterfall was still running nicely and offered a gorgeous place to stop and enjoy the sounds of nature. As you can see, signs of Spring were just starting as I captured the pops of Green! The only downfall, no pets allowed...but we may have missed seeing that sign and Lola had a great time leading the way!

If you have never been to Parkville, I highly recommend visiting.  It has a great little downtown area where you can stop and enjoy the local shopping or grab a beer and a bite to eat.  Platte Landing Park and English Landing Park are a few other trails nearby that run along the Missouri River that look inviting. [dogs allowed]

I love to travel and adventure to different places around the globe, but I need to remember to also explore local!
